This is a recommended course sequence based on the current University Catalog for this degree and illustrates how the degree could be completed. Actual plans for individual students will vary based on transfer credits, semester start, advisor recommendations and academic needs.

Be Advised

1. Second Language Study (0-8 credits): In consultation with adviser, complete study of a single second language documented on a transcript: two years of high school study, one year of college study, or equivalent.

2. Electives (6 credits) fulfill any of the following requirements:

a. Study Abroad (6 credits): In consultation with adviser, complete a study abroad experience. Up to 6 credits of courses may be counted towards completing the major.

b. Electives (6 credits): In consultation with adviser, complete up to 6 credits of electives in English or other fields from classes numbered above 201.

3. A State of Minnesota teaching license requires completion of a subject area major, completion of the Professional Education Sequence, and passing grades on the appropriate tests and assessment processes required by the State of Minnesota Department of Education.

Students are expected to earn at minimum a “C” in each Professional Education Sequence class. Grade of C- or lower will require a student to retake the course.

5. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 120 credits to graduate.

6. All SCSU students must have at least 40 credits of 300/400 level courses to graduate.

7. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 40 credits of Liberal Education courses AND meet the requirements of all 10 goal areas, including RIGR and Diversity.

8. Apply for graduation one semester before you plan to graduation.
